The GreyStone Power Foundation Scholarship is a $3,000 scholarship that was created as a means to give back to exceptional students who contribute to their community. Due to the efforts and donations of willing members that voluntarily participate in GreyStone Power’s Operation Round Up program, the GreyStone Foundation, Inc. is able to present scholarships to five outstanding high school students annually. This year, after evaluating dozens of applicants, Auburn Merritt of Dallas, Emmanuel Eziakor of Cobb, Jake Strickland of Dallas, Jordan Houle of Hiram and Jaden Lamar of Douglasville were chosen by Foundation board members as recipients of these scholarships. The students were chosen due to their outstanding academic performance and their significant contributions to their community.
Auburn Merritt, a student who will attend Kennesaw State University, is an aspiring nurse seeking a degree in nursing. Merritt has contributed to her community in numerous ways such as establishing a new academic club within her school, volunteering at nursing homes, speaking against bullying, and volunteering at charitable events.
Emmanuel Eziakor is an aspiring oncologist who will attend Morehouse University in order to earn his degree in pre-med. Over the course of the past few years, Eziakor has volunteered a significant amount of time to his community. He has volunteered hundreds of hours working for charitable organizations including the Sweetwater Mission and Flying Aces.
Jake Strickland will attend the University of Georgia to pursue a degree in political science. At an early age, Strickland quickly saw the value in helping the community, volunteering at his church’s outreach program and helping with the construction of several houses. Even now, Strickland is an active member of the community, contributing to numerous charitable organizations, including the Beta Club.
Jordan Houle is an aspiring nurse seeking to earn a nursing degree at Truett McConnell University. Houle has made significant contributions to the community through her involvement with several churches.
Jaden Lamar will pursue a degree in Accounting at Howard University. In an effort to kickstart his career, Lamar has been doing internships, taking a financial literacy course, trading stocks, and has even started up his own business.
“Each of these students are deserving and extremely grateful to have received this scholarship,” said Marcus Carter, GreyStone Power Foundation Chairman. “As they follow their dreams and conclude their journey for higher education, their dreams will be easier to attain thanks to the generosity of GreyStone members. Hopefully this scholarship will help them complete their degree and follow their dreams.”
