GreyStone Power Corporation electric line crews took top spots in the 2018 Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo held in May at the FFA Camp John Hope in Fort Valley. Professional journeyman teams, apprentices with EMCs and municipal electric systems throughout the southeast competed. “Among those teams is a team of talented linemen who each represent what GreyStone Power is all about,” said Steve Findley, GreyStone Manager of Operations

Twenty-three linemen from GreyStone Power participated in the 2018 Georgia Lineman’s Rodeo. The team consisted of 10 apprentices who competed individually, two journeymen teams and five judges.

The journeyman team of Sam Albright, Tony Brown and Matt Williams won the following awards:
2nd Place Overall
2nd Place in the EMC Division
1st place in the Crossarm Change Out Event
2nd Place in the Insulator Change Out Event

The apprentices received some of the highest scores GreyStone has ever received and many had perfect scores on several of the events.

The GreyStone Team Consisted of:
Apprentices – Wesley Agan, Matthew Braswell, Jacob Brumbelow, Matt Frame, Austin Frazier, Casey Jackson, Dalton Owens, Hunter Patterson, Preston Robinson, Bryce Wrenn, Jack Rider (coach)
Journeymen – Sam Albright, Tony Brown, Matt Williams, Clyde Hatfield, Josh Kirby, Jarred Stevens, Brad Bentley (coach)
Judges – John Atcheson, Damon Galloway, Britt Kimsey, Patrick LeCroy and Jason Truitt

“EMC journeyman linemen and apprentices are among the best in their field in Georgia and across the nation,” said Findley. “Their participation in the rodeo is important since it serves as a continuing educational opportunity with a focus on safety, training, and safe work practices. The crews really enjoy it because it’s also a great time to build relationships among the electric utility companies in Georgia and the southeast.”
