2014 football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, definitely knows something about waking up happy.  After all, he beat some mighty big odds in becoming a giant of a winner in the game of life. “My life is improbably,” Strahan said. “I am an absolutely improbable Hall of Famer. I am an improbable football player, because I didn’t grow up saying, ‘I’m going to do this.” Strahan’s rise to fame is the stuff storybooks are made of. A tale that would be over the top – if it wasn’t true.

Strahan, the youngest of six children, was raised on a German army base, where he learned his family’s values of pride, hard work, and problem solving.

After a legendary NFL career, Strahan retired in 2008, and seamlessly moved into entertainment, becoming a television star with multiple platforms. His famous gap-toothed grin – forever captured on his Hall of Fame bust, is seen by millions of television viewers each week on the popular morning show, Live with Kelly and Michael, which he co-hosts with Kelly Ripa. Strahan is also a special co-host with Good Morning America. On Sundays during the football season, he is an analyst on FOX NFL Sunday.

In Wake Up Happy, Michael shares his personal stories about how he gets and stays motivated and how others can do the same in their quest to attain their life goals. His upbeat message resonates deeply, as he throws off the celebrity image and praises fatherhood, responsibility, achievement, paying attention to detail, mental toughness, and “just showing up for life.”

Here are a few “Strahan Creeds”

• Listen to other people, but don’t take their opinions for fact. Have your own experiences. Draw your own conclusions.

• You can’t change other people but you can change how you act around them. Usually, that’s more than enough.

• Don’t pre-judge. Help can—and will—come from the most unexpected places. Be open to everything around you.

An inspiring treasure trove of advice that can empower just about anyone to make significant strides toward pursuing their dreams, Wake Up Happy is a book no one, young or old, male or female will want to miss.
